Growing Old for Registered Nurse for Caring - MyAssignmenthelp
Question: Discuss about theGrowing Old for Registered Nurse for Caring. Answer: Attributes of Registered Nurse for Caring for the Elderly The registered nurses have a crucial role to play in the transitional stage of a patient to a care facility (Walsh Shutes, 2013). These individuals are expected to assist the patient to adapt to the new environment efficiently. As such, there are certain qualities and attributes that they should possess. These include: Empathy: For one to be caring and to build a strong relationship with another person, empathy is crucial (Wiseman, 2007). It is through empathy that the nurse would be able to acknowledge the seriousness of my condition and requirements and ensure that they are addressed effectively. Dependability: As I grow old, there are certain activities that I cannot execute appropriately. As such I would need the support of the other registered nurse. The nurse should be someone who is reliable and is always there to offer assistance to me (Dijkstra, 2017). He should be able to determine the areas where I need assistance and develop ways of offering support. Patient: As I grow old, the functionality of my body is slowed (Walsh Shutes, 2013). Thus, I would take the time to execute them. For instance, the elderly often take the time to comprehend things said to them quickly. I would, therefore, require someone who wont get annoyed when I am slow in anything. Flexible: As already discussed, when one becomes old he/she requires support in many areas. Having someone who is flexible would ensure that all my needs are addressed regardless of their diversities (Walsh Shutes, 2013). For instance, I may need him/her to help me exercise at one time, and another thing else some other time. References Dijkstra, A. (2017). Care Dependency. InDementia in Nursing Homes(pp. 229-248). People of low intelligence/class i. e. teenagers use junk music to try and drown out their supposedly harsh reality Essay Example For Students
People of low intelligence/class i. e. teenagers use junk music to try and drown out their supposedly harsh reality Essay The essay I read suggested that people of low intelligence/class i. e. teenagers use junk music to try and drown out their supposedly harsh reality. The author also suggests that the more intelligent people in the world do not listen to loud music because the decibel level at which you listen to music somehow indicates your intelligence. I cannot agree with that statement because I have talked to my friends and aquaintences and they told me that music helps to lift their spirits and some even said that music helps them to cope with their reality. In addition, studies have shown that some people who listen to music while they study actually do better on the test the next day, because the music relaxes them. In the aforementioned essay, the author also mentions the two slack-jawed young assistants. This was quite obviously stating that the repairmen were of lower social standing, and that the junk music they were blasting was emphasizing their low class. The author continues on to mention elevator music and how it is alright to play it in factories and restaurants so that the personnell do not fall asleep or brood on the essential monotony of their jobs. I thought that the whole point of the essay was to complain about low class people trying to escape reality through music, and then he contradicts himself. He also said essentially that the young workers had no interest in the serene setting in which they were working, and the same goes for all low-class people. I find that laughable, as some of the greatest painters and artists, poets and writers were lower class citizens in their time. He states his opinion that people play such junk music not to bring something in, but to shut things out. Supposedly, people do not want to hear the music for sheer enjoyment, but rather we use it as a narcotic of sorts, blocking out reality and dispelling the thought-provoking silence that accosts us when we are alone. The author continues to get off topic by mentioning societys so-called televsion addiction, the sports mania, and the intense prioccupation with trivia, which according to the author, which are all supposed factors in creating the vacuum that makes up peoples mostly teenagers heads. Mr. Harris concludes with the statement, à ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã ¦this great gift has been turned against itself, creating a cacophony to dull and deaden and dehumanize the soul. This author comes off as being very snobby and very much an elitist. He says that the only good music is classical, which is what the higher class listen to. I cannot agree with his concluding statement, because as I said earlier, the people I spoke with play music to brighten their day, lift their spirits, and make them happy. I enjoy music, and I do not need Mr. Harris destroying the one thing that everybody in the world can relate to. Everyone has heard music, everyone enjoys some sort of music, and isnt it worth it to endure the hardship of listening to rock music, if only to bring everyone a little happiness?

Things Fall Apart Story Essay Example For Students
Things Fall Apart Story Essay Things Fall Apart is a story about personal beliefs and customs and also a story about conflict. There is struggle between family, culture, and religion of the Ibo people which is all brought on by a difference in personal beliefs and customs. There are the strong opinions of the main character, Okonkwo. We are also introduced to the views of his village, Umuofia. Finally, we see how things fall apart when these beliefs and customs are confronted by those of the white missionaries. Chinua Achebe is a product of both native and European cultures. This has a great effect on the telling of the story. When he tells the story with an understanding and personal experiences in both cultures. He does not portray the African culture and their beliefs as barbaric. He simply tells it as it is and how things happened. It is the same with the white men. Chinua Achebe realized that neither of the cultures were bad, but they simply had a difference in beliefs. We see a conflict early in the story between Okonkwo and his father, Unoka. ââ¬Å"Okonkwo was ruled by one passion ââ¬â to hate everything that his father Unoka had loved. We will write a custom essay on Things Fall Apart Story specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now One of those things was gentleness and another was idlenessâ⬠(p. 13). Unoka was considered to be a failure. Okonkwo did not receive anything from his father and he had to start out with nothing. His goal in life was to obtain great wealth and to have many wives and children. The Ibo people considered these things signs of success. Yet, his greatest goal was his desire to become one of the powerful elders of the clan. It is Okonkwoââ¬â¢s inner anger and bitterness over his fatherââ¬â¢s failure that seemed to be the driving force behind everything he did in life. This was evident in the fact that he always felt as though he had to do what was manly and he hated weakness. Just as Okonkwo did not want to be like his father, Nwoye did not want to be like Okonkwo. Nwoye possessed traits that Okonkwo did not such as gentleness, forgiveness, and acceptance. Okonkwo saw these as signs of weakness. ââ¬Å"Okonkwo never showed any emotion openly, unless it be the emotion of anger. To show affection was a sign of weakness; the only thing worth demonstrating was strengthâ⬠(p. 28). Okonkwo considered Nwoye to be lazy and wanted him to be a success like himself. Okonkwo wanted his son to be a great farmer and a great man. I will not have a son who cannot hold up his head in the gathering of the clan. I would sooner strangle him with my own handsâ⬠(p. 33). This is an example of the difference in personal beliefs among family. Some may say that the book is about the differences in beliefs between the Africans and the colonizers, but it is more than that. It is clear that it was Okonkwoââ¬â¢s personal beliefs and not necessarily the views of the people of Umuofia which guided him in what he did. One of these is his reliance in the strength of anger. Although he felt strongly in the beliefs and customs of the Ibo people, there are several occasions in which Okonkwo made a decision to disobey the customs in order to live out his own personal beliefs. For example, in chapter four, Okonkwo is yelled at by Ezeani, the priest of the earth goddess, for beating his wife during the sacred week of peace. Okonkwo did not feel remorse for his actions and probably thought of it as a sign of strength and manhood. Okonkwo was always worried about being seen as weak. One good example of this is when he kills Ikemefuna. .u0dad7f739ecbb24d1a38553034cfc45a , .u0dad7f739ecbb24d1a38553034cfc45a .postImageUrl , .u0dad7f739ecbb24d1a38553034cfc45a .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u0dad7f739ecbb24d1a38553034cfc45a , .u0dad7f739ecbb24d1a38553034cfc45a:hover , .u0dad7f739ecbb24d1a38553034cfc45a:visited , .u0dad7f739ecbb24d1a38553034cfc45a:active { border:0!important; } .u0dad7f739ecbb24d1a38553034cfc45a .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u0dad7f739ecbb24d1a38553034cfc45a { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u0dad7f739ecbb24d1a38553034cfc45a:active , .u0dad7f739ecbb24d1a38553034cfc45a:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u0dad7f739ecbb24d1a38553034cfc45a .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u0dad7f739ecbb24d1a38553034cfc45a .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u0dad7f739ecbb24d1a38553034cfc45a .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u0dad7f739ecbb24d1a38553034cfc45a .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u0dad7f739ecbb24d1a38553034cfc45a:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u0dad7f739ecbb24d1a38553034cfc45a .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u0dad7f739ecbb24d1a38553034cfc45a .u0dad7f739ecbb24d1a38553034cfc45a-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u0dad7f739ecbb24d1a38553034cfc45a:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Consider the thematic and/ or symbolic significance of time in Pearce, P., Tom's Midnight Garden EssayOkonkwo liked the boy because he saw several good qualities in him that he wished his own son possessed. He had to be killed because of one of their customs. When it came time to kill Ikemefuna, Okonkwo delivered the second and final blow from his machete and killed the boy so that people would not think that he was weak. After Ikemefuna was killed, Okonkwo was unable to eat or drink for days because he was upset. But, he made himself get rid of those feelings and reminded himself that killing someone should not bother him because he feared being seen as weak, like a â⬠Å"shivering womanâ⬠(p. 5). This same event is also a major breakdown for Okonkwo. Killing Ikemefuna represents killing off everything in which Okonkwo believed very strongly in. He saw many of his own qualities in Ikemefuna. He could have done a lot of good for the clan and Okonkwo was very proud of him but, he ends up killing Ikemefuna himself. Just as Okonkwo was gaining power and higher positions within the clan, he was banished for seven years for accidentally killing another member of the clan. They burned all his huts down and he and he and his family had to live in his motherland. Even though everyone knew that he was innocent and that the banishment was meant for murder, no one was willing to challenge the tradition. The fact that the Ibo people relied on tradition and would not accept change was a weak point in their society. As Okonkwo was preparing to return to Umuofia from his time is exile, he was expecting the people to be exited for his return. He thought they would be happy to have their warrior leader back home. Their reaction was not what he expected. He believed that the people had grown weak. The missionaries had also arrived in Umuofia. Okonkwo was not scared of them at first. He did not think that anyone would believe what they had to say. The arrival of the missionaries is the issue in the book in which there is the biggest clash of beliefs. When the Christian religion was introduced, many members of the clan who were not happy with the Ibo religion became interested. Some of the title-less men were also interested. Nwoye, who did not approve of leaving the supposedly evil twin babies in the woods or the killing of Ikemefuna, was also interested in Christianity because it taught that killing innocent people was wrong. When Okonkwo heard that Nwoye was visiting with the missionaries, he was infuriated and he kicked him out of the house. In general, Okonkwo was fearful and extremely resistant to the new religion because it had the potential of ruining the life long work of the clan of trying to please the gods of its ancestors. Just as we can see a difference in personal beliefs within the clan, we can also see the difference in customs or methods or motives between the two missionaries. Mr. Brown was a very passive and understanding man, whereas, Mr. Smith was more forceful and condemning of the people. He did not try to understand the customs of the clan, he simply told them that they were wrong and Christianity was right. Things really got heated up when a convert unmasked and killed an egwugwu. In revenge, the church was burnt down. Okonkwo and other members of the clan were brought before the commissioner and were harassed and beaten. It was after this that a town meeting was called. Okonkwo was infuriated and determined to fight the white men. When a messenger came to break up the meeting, Okonkwo was so enraged that he killed the man. In the end, Okonkwo committed suicide by hanging himself. He knew that the people would not fight and he was ashamed of what the Ibo society had become. ââ¬Å"He knew that Umuofia would not go to war. He knew because they had let the other messenger escape. They had broken into tumult instead of actionâ⬠(p. 205). Everything he lived for and believed in was going to be taken away by the white men. He did not want to see that happen so he took his own life. .u6cbb33e9f97dcbf56bd7809df570fc8b , .u6cbb33e9f97dcbf56bd7809df570fc8b .postImageUrl , .u6cbb33e9f97dcbf56bd7809df570fc8b .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u6cbb33e9f97dcbf56bd7809df570fc8b , .u6cbb33e9f97dcbf56bd7809df570fc8b:hover , .u6cbb33e9f97dcbf56bd7809df570fc8b:visited , .u6cbb33e9f97dcbf56bd7809df570fc8b:active { border:0!important; } .u6cbb33e9f97dcbf56bd7809df570fc8b .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u6cbb33e9f97dcbf56bd7809df570fc8b { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u6cbb33e9f97dcbf56bd7809df570fc8b:active , .u6cbb33e9f97dcbf56bd7809df570fc8b:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u6cbb33e9f97dcbf56bd7809df570fc8b .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u6cbb33e9f97dcbf56bd7809df570fc8b .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u6cbb33e9f97dcbf56bd7809df570fc8b .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u6cbb33e9f97dcbf56bd7809df570fc8b .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u6cbb33e9f97dcbf56bd7809df570fc8b:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u6cbb33e9f97dcbf56bd7809df570fc8b .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u6cbb33e9f97dcbf56bd7809df570fc8b .u6cbb33e9f97dcbf56bd7809df570fc8b-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u6cbb33e9f97dcbf56bd7809df570fc8b:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Awakening And Madame Bovary EssayYet, this is ironic because, in doing so, he was committing an act which was considered one of the worst actions a member could do in the Ibo society. Throughout the story we see how strong Okonkwoââ¬â¢s personal beliefs were and how much they meant to him. Beliefs, both personal and those of the society someone is born into, play a major role in their life. This story is an example of what happens when those beliefs are taken away and others are forced upon a person. Everyone needs to believe in something, and things fall apart when they no longer can.

rehab notes essays
rehab notes essays Amplification systems for hearing impaired: - hardwired system: not used much today, child wears earphones and plugs into a system on the desk therefore allowing no mobility, teacher wears handheld microphone, sound child hears is different from hearing aids - induction loop amplification system: for group amplification; still used; parts contain a loop that runs around the room either along the walls or under the carpet, also includes one or more microphones, an amplification unit, and children have to wear hearing aids with telephone coils; what teacher says is picked up by microphone, amplified, then sent through the loop as current flow. The electromagnetic field that is created induces a current in each childs hearing aid (which is turned to telephone or induction coil). Disadvantage: spillover or cross-talk between rooms can occur in schools where more than one ILA system is used in close proximity, constancy of amplification level, often fluctuated, were dead spots within the loop. Advantages: mobility was possible within the class, there was to a great extent constancy of input, consistency of auditory input at home and in the classroom. - Radio frequency system: relies on radio frequency bans for the transmission and reception of speech signals. There is a wireless microphone transmitter than sends a signal to a tuner and amplifier unit which then sends a signal to a broadcast antenna. The students are equip with radio receiver units powered by rechargeable batteries for feedback and monitoring purposes, students can use the teachers microphone, overhead microphone, or setting on their individual units which allow for a mixing of the radio frequency and hearing aid microphone signals. Children are limited to an area surrounded by a broadcast loop antenna. - FM (freq. mod) wireless system: allows complete mobility and does not involve a stationary amp unit or Teacher wears a microphone FM transmitte...

Research paper on Mary Shelly's novel Frankenstein Essay
Research paper on Mary Shelly's novel Frankenstein - Essay Example He had created a monster which he considered to be a threat even to himself. The story highlights the happenings in the life of the monster and the difficulties he faces which lead to his complete transformation to an evil character. The story throughout its course highlights the fact that humans have a dual persona...lity of good and evil, and after long- term of aversion, discrimination and persecution by the others, one will become evil and opt for the wrong and the negative path. In this novel, the monster "has human emotions" and he wants to get love from others so badly and the reason that he turns evil is due to the fact that people he is mistreated by the human beings around him to an extent that he is even disowned by his own creator. Frankenstein is a young man who is very ambitious and wishes to complete a task which no one else has been successful at. He starts working towards the creation of a being and his obsession to complete this task makes him forget the fact that t he result of his experiments may turn out to be disastrous. He does not think about the impact that his creation may lay on the life of the creature. He works day and night to complete his goal and he continues with his job without considering the use of appropriate sources for his creation. His desire to create a being makes him go to depths that he even chooses to use inhuman parts for the creation of the monster which can be analyzed from the fact when he says, "The dissecting-room and the slaughter-house furnished many of my materials." This explains the fact that Frankenstein had gone to all limits to complete his creation. But after he succeeded in his task, he realized the fact that he had committed a mistake and had created a beast and not a being that he actually desired (Kelly 2000; Shelley 1979). The first rejection that the monster faces in his life is from his own creator. Immediately upon his creation, he is dejected and disliked by the person who did his level best to create him. This raises a clear point that a creature that was disliked by his own creator would never be liked by other people and would have to face torment for the rest of his life. This also indicates the fact that Frankenstein had lost his senses while he was engrossed in his work of creating the monster and he realized what he had done only after he had finished his creation. He then analyzed the fact that he actually created a disfigured monster which did not resemble human beings in physical appearance. He described the creature by saying, ââ¬Å"His yellow skin scarcely covered the work of muscles and arteries beneath; his hair was of a lustrous black, and flowing; his teeth of a pearly whiteness; but these luxuriances only formed a more horrid contrast with his watery eyes, that seemed almost of the same color as the dun white sockets in which they were set, his shriveled complexion and straight black lips.â⬠This shows the fact that he had failed in creating a perfe ct being. His attempt to play god had failed and his act of crossing all norms to achieve what he wanted had led to a disastrous result. His dislike for the monster can be seen when he says, ââ¬Å"How can I describe my emotions at this catastrophe, or how delineate the wretch whom with such infinite pains and care I had endeavored

Macroeconomic Convergence, Financial Development and Economic Growth Coursework
Macroeconomic Convergence, Financial Development and Economic Growth - Coursework Example The theory of absolute convergence states that the growth level of countries initially varies due to the difference in their levels of capital. The second theory of conditional convergence states that each country has a steady state and they converge to their own level of the steady state. The paper focuses on the effect of convergence on China and the resultant financial development and economic growth in this country. Deep-down analysis of the fact that poor countries can catch up to the rich countries through the increase in the average rates of growth has been carried on for a proper understanding of this topic. The investigation of the way in which the financial development and economic growth of China helped it to reach the position equivalent to a developed country is considered for the purpose of review. The Solow swan model and laws of diminishing marginal utility are used to help in the process of interpretation of the topic in a simple and easy manner. The empirical evidence is laid down in the paper along with charts to facilitate the process of understanding. The idea of catch-up-effect or convergence in economics is based on the hypothesis that the per capita income of the poorer economies will tend to grow at a much faster rate than the richer ones. The resultant factor is the convergence of both the economies in terms of the per capita income. The financial functions control the investment and saving decisions, technological innovations and therefore economic growth (Shahbaz, Khan and Tahir, 2013). Classical theories: The Ricardian theory of production and growth are related to the law of variable proportion. The law states that if any factor of production is increased while keeping the other same with no technological changes, there can be an increase in the output but in diminishing rate. This increased output eventually approaches towards zero.
